TW Civil & Infrastructure (TWCI) successfully delivered the replacement of Storkey Bridge for Napier City Council at Riverbend Road, Maraenui.
The project involved the complete removal and replacement of an existing pedestrian bridge that had reached the end of its service life due to severe corrosion of its steel structural members. The objective was to provide a safer, more durable and lower-maintenance crossing while maintaining access through a well-planned construction programme.
The replacement bridge forms part of an important local pedestrian connection and required careful management of construction activities adjacent to a waterway, public walkways and community recreational areas.
