In the wake of Cyclone Gabrielle, TWCI mobilised rapidly to support emergency response efforts across Central Hawke’s Bay, working to restore access to isolated communities and critical infrastructure. Initial works focused on clearing roads, removing slip material, and making damaged transport routes safe and accessible as quickly as possible.
As recovery efforts progressed, our focus shifted from emergency response to long-term infrastructure resilience. TWCI played a key role in delivering repairs and upgrades to roads, bridges, and supporting infrastructure, helping to strengthen the region’s transport network against future weather events. Significant projects included the restoration and enhancement of critical community links such as the Wharetoka Bridge and surrounding transport corridors.
Working in challenging conditions and often under tight timeframes, our team delivered practical, durable civil infrastructure solutions that helped reconnect communities and support regional recovery. From immediate response through to long-term resilience works, this project highlights TWCI’s commitment to providing essential infrastructure that strengthens communities and supports their future growth and wellbeing.
